A very useful book for any student studying leadership and management within education. -- Dr Janet Oti * drupal *
Excellent easy to follow book with case studies and good reflection opportunities. -- Miss Paula Ledson * drupal *
I acquired this text with the intention of suggesting it to a group of undergraduate students undertaking Supervision training with health and counselling professionals working within a context of education. The intention was that it would offer the students information about coaching with members of this group that often happens as part of the supervision process.
The text offers a great deal of information about the management and leadership of educational professionals and so it did not quite satisfy the brief I had for it. However as I am also involved with the education of other teachers it fitted neatly into a requirement we have for a text to inform our PGCE level teachers about leadership and management within their context.
The authors are clearly subject specialists and offer a compelling and meaty text that will meet the needs of the educator at undergraduate and I think postgraduate (level 7, masters). -- Mr Andrew Thorne * drupal *
A useful review of key issues at a time when government is placing increasing emphasis on leadership in education. -- Mr Neil Rutledge * drupal *
This book is written in a very readable style. It explores the differing nature fo leadership and mangement models. It offers many perspectives from both the British educational system and other countries systems. It is a useful book for those trainees that find themselves in a managment role and wish to deeepen theri understanding of mangement systems and practices. -- Mrs Adele Sewell * drupal *
An up to date book specifically generated for leading and managing people in education; this is particularly useful as books tend to be generic to business. Useful sub headings. -- Mrs Claire Pescott * drupal *
This book is used by the teacher leading the course to support her practice -- Mrs Davina Balls * drupal *
Useful for those new to management in the sector. This details effective strategies and helpful/useful advice to be effective in leading a team. -- Mrs Julie Clarkson * drupal *
As a third edition, the coaching and mentoring section was still in need of further refining. There is much more separation between coaching and mentoring and this text does not fully differentiate between the two. -- Mrs Karen Duncan * drupal *
An excellent theory book, which identifies the key principles of leadership and management.
excellent links to literature and research.
the links made to practice allow the reader to draw comparisons to roles within leadership -- Mrs Leanne Hall * drupal *
