This edited volume represents a collection of contributions from highly experienced academics to those at the beginning of their academic career. It covers a very broad spectrum of topics concerning terrorism and political violence, from a multitude of theoretical concepts, tactics and positioning, from how terrorism emerges through to how it ends, and how to approach the study and research of the topics. The book represents a rare opportunity for an all-in-one, up-to-date and informative source on these aspects that impact upon our contemporary lives, which makes it an invaluable source for many – researchers and students through to those with an interest in the matter. -- Dr. Greg Simons
This volume provides an illuminating overview of the challenges of teaching and learning about terrorism and political violence. It engages with the causes, dynamics and context of violence and brings theoretical depth to the topic in multiple perspectives. Written in an accessible style, this book is an ideal companion for students of political violence and terrorism studies.

The course being taught at Level 6 to final year students at CCCU is Terrorism and Political Violence so this is especially timely and relevant.
I enjoyed the book and thought it well-written and wide-ranging.
BWC -- Dr Bryn Caless * drupal *
A useful book for students new to PV. This acquaints students with an understanding of terrorism and the instrumental use of PV> -- Dr Malcolm Cook * drupal *
A key text in the study of terrorism -- Dr Richard Wild * drupal *
Nice addition to the syllabus. Won′t be a core reading, but recommended. Interesting chapters, but will be hard to "sell" chapters from graduate students on well established topics if there are so many advanced scholars out there who have worked on the topic." -- Dr Tobias Bohmelt * drupal *
This text is very good but is not relevant to the programme. -- Mr Matthew Hirst * drupal *
This is an excellent textbook, and, in fact, I am going to switch from using many different sources, book chapters etc. to structuring my course around the textbook. What I particularly liked was the fact that this doesn′t mean that I have to revamp the course, since most of the topics addressed in my classes so far are covered by the book, in a condensed yet substantial manner. Students will like it! I already ordered a couple of copies for our university′s library, and I will strongly recommend to the students that this is a book they could (and ′should′) buy. (However, I know that students today are rather reluctant as regards investing money in books... and, besides, the course is ′only′ 2 CPs worth...) -- Professor Alexander Brand * drupal *
An excellent 3 part introduction to terrorism studies that will be highly recommended to students. This book links with my module clearly and will be much used. -- Professor Jonathan Parker * drupal *
