Dream, My Child cover

From New York Times bestselling author r.h. Sin comes a modern-day lullaby that illustrates the importance of rest.

In Dream, My Child, poet r.h. Sin turns bedtime into a journey filled with stars, animals, faraway places, and limitless imagination. With soothing, spare verse and richly imagined illustrations, young readers ages 3-5 are invited to drift from the safety of home into a world where anything can happen.

Written from the perspective of parenthood with the intent to illustrate the beauty in rest. The wonderful exploration that exists within a dream and a baby’s journey to get there. Dream, My Child is a modern lullaby that will spark the imagination of your little one.

Warm, reassuring, and visually expansive, Dream, My Child is a bedtime celebration of curiosity, courage, multicultural wonder, peaceful sleep, and the love that gives children the confidence to dream big.

  • A gentle bedtime book for little dreamers filled with soothing, rhythmic text
  • Travel beneath the stars through snowy villages, Paris, deserts and pyramids, India, Asian landscapes, oceans, jungles, the Arctic, an African safari, and even outer space
  • Whales, penguins, polar bears, elephants, monkeys, giraffes, lions, zebras, frogs, rabbits, sloths, sea turtles, dragons, and many other animals appear throughout the dream adventure
  • No matter how far imagination travels, the book ends where every child wants to be: safely with loving parents waiting when the dream is over.

Close your eyes, follow the stars, and dream your way across oceans, continents, and galaxies—knowing that love will be waiting when you return.

The simple, repetitive text encourages the baby to close their eyes: “Dream, my child / You’ll sleep tonight.” Though the text is rhythmic and soothing, the illustrations are the star of the show. Readers get a look into the baby’s whimsical fantasy, illustrated evocatively by Secker, who juxtaposes brightly hued characters against a dark gray background. The baby dreams of floating off into the sky with the sloth, who comes to life. They meet other little ones and travel all over the world, floating by the Eiffel Tower and the pyramids in a hot air balloon, observing sea life in a boat, ice-skating with a group of animals, and stopping by the Taj Mahal. At one point, the narrator says, “Good night stars / Good night, moon”—a sweet nod to Margaret Wise Brown’s classic. “When you awake
