This is an indispensable text for students and both novice and experienced CBT practitioners.
When the third edition of this book came out, I said that the reader should "Consider it mandatory reading for any trainee, supervisor or clinician who takes patient care seriously". Now we have the fourth edition, and I can only say that I was right last time - this is the manual on which to base our use of CBT across many disorders. I could not see how they could improve on that third edition. But I was wrong - the authors have added so much here, based on their experience and their extraordinary breadth of understanding. This is the book that I wish I had had at the start of my time working with CBT. So my apologies - you should go out and buy this edition too.
-- Professor Glenn WallerWritten by clinical leaders with a wealth of experience in both clinical practice and training, this remains the gold-standard textbook for learning and practising cognitive behavioural therapy. It is an essential resource for novice trainees, experienced therapists, and supervisors alike.
Importantly, the book provides a clear framework for individualised, formulation-driven practice while also offering a comprehensive and authoritative account of the key disorder-specific models and interventions that underpin evidence-based CBT. Helen Kennerley and her co-authors have once again succeeded in producing a text that is both accessible and clinically sophisticated.
This is a must-read for every cognitive behavioural psychotherapist and stands alongside Beck′s Cognitive Therapy of Depression as one of the most influential and indispensable texts in CBT training and practice.
