Eric Van Hullebusch received his PhD in Aquatic Chemistry and Microbiology from the Université de Limoges (France) in 2002. Following his PhD, he was awarded a prestigious Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship at Wageningen University (The Netherlands). He later held the position of Chair Professor of Environmental Science and Technology at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education. He currently serves as Full Professor of Biogeochemistry of Engineered Ecosystems at Université Paris Cité and the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris. His research focuses on the biogeochemistry of organic and inorganic contaminants in engineered ecosystems. He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, accumulating more than 22,000 citations (h-index: 75). His current work centres on the use of biohydrometallurgical approaches for recovering technology-critical elements from waste streams and the (bio)remediation of polluted soils, with a particular emphasis on poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

V. C. Padmanaban is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, India. He obtained his PhD (Technology) from Anna University, Chennai, and was a recipient of the prestigious Young Scientist Research Award from the Board of Nuclear Sciences, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BRNS - BARC), Mumbai, Govt of India. Dr Padmanaban has led and contributed to several nationally funded research projects supported by agencies including the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Earth Sciences, BIRAC, and BARC. He has authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications, with an h-index of 25. His current research focuses on antimicrobial resistance in aquatic environments, resource recovery from waste streams, circular economy approaches, and sustainable bioprocess development.

Sagarika Panigrahi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at National Institute of Technology Agartala, specialising in environmental engineering with a focus on waste-to-energy technologies, anaerobic digestion, and sustainability assessment. She completed her PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, where her research centred on developing innovative pretreatment strategies to enhance biogas production from lignocellulosic biomass, and holds an M. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. With postdoctoral experience at Aarhus University, Denmark, and IIT Kharagpur, she has established a strong research profile, publishing extensively in high-impact journals and contributing to projects on biomethanation and carbon utilisation. Dr Panigrahi has received several accolades, including the Young Women Researcher Award (2023), and actively contributes to research, particularly in the field of waste-to-energy.
