This is a companion title to The Award in Education and Training by Ann Gravells.
A very useful book to support learners in the new award - I havesignposted this to learners who will be doing the course and will be purchasing several of them for our ′Resources Library′. -- Audrey Fairgrieve * drupal *
While this publication offers useful information, its context does not student the requirements of our students in Ireland. -- Dr Anne Walsh * drupal *
Not relevant for module taught -- Dr Spyros Themelis * drupal *
An excellent text signposting the route to preparing evidence for assessment. Easy to access information and clear explanations. -- Lynette Morris * drupal *
concise. easy to follow. -- Miss Jackie Rhoden * drupal *
An excellent update on the PTLLS edition 5 text, appropriate for the new Award in Education and Training at level 3. We will adopt this book as essential reading (alongside Francis and Gould) for our final PTLLS run at level 4 in February 2014 and the new Award in Education and Training at level 3 from September 2014. -- Mr David Andrews * drupal *
Useful recommended reference material to support the study of the students on this programme, particularly those considering or obliged to progress to the CET and for some DET programmes. Worked particularly well for those new to this style of study and portfolio builds. -- Mr Donald Moyse * drupal *
Written in clear language and logically set out this book will help learners approach their tasks. There are useful hints and tips as well as clarification of how the criteria can be interpreted. With such a huge amount of literature about assessments this book makes it easy. -- Mr John Andrews * drupal *
Clearly structured book around the assignments giving learner hints and advice on how to complete the assignments to meet the assessment criteria. Recommended as an additional book to aid study -- Mr Mathew Graham * drupal *

Clear information and guidance to support progression through the required assignments. -- Mr Pete Jackson * drupal *
An excellent self-assessment book, which has very good questions to encourage trainees to reflect on key areas covered on the new Award in Education and Training. It′s just a a shame that there is not a list of the questions. -- Mr Yvert De Souza * drupal *
Helpful book that really works for students trying to gain the Award and have not written assignments for a long time. Clear language and good hints and tips. -- Mrs Alicia Hawkes * drupal *
Gravells is a master at producing books which are jargon-free, written in plain English and are so beneficial to students embarking on a career in teaching. Lots of clear explanations, activities and tasks for the students to use as reflection. I never have any problems recommending Gravells to my students. -- Mrs Alicia Hawkes * drupal *
Not directly relevant to HPE, more focused in training and FE. -- Mrs Carrie Kirby * drupal *
This is an essential book for all students who are attending the course (previously the PTLLS).
It is clearly written and covers the awards objectives. -- Mrs Cheryl Hine * drupal *
As with all Ann Gravells′ texts, this is clearly written and aimed at giving learners the confidence and knowledge to complete the course. For learners who are less sure of their ability to formulate their answers, this text gives basic guidelines and suggestions. -- Mrs Jane Berridge * drupal *
Another excellent textbook by Ann -- Mrs Karen Carroll * drupal *
Students relied on the book too much to get their answers from as opposed to thinking how they can relate training to the environment they are teaching in or plan to teach in. -- Mrs Karen Gray * drupal *
This book is disappointing. It does not encourage students to think for themselves. It gives the answers and would inhibit students from thinking independently. Far too much ′guidance′ -- Mrs Marilyn Fairclough * drupal *
A good reference on passing assessments with detailed content from the author. Simple and effective reference source. -- Mrs Nahid Shah * drupal *
I have used this for specific students more so than a recommended text for the DET/PGCE. I have used it for student evaluation of what is written and how it meets criteria. For those who have not written an assignment response for some time, it is useful.
I have also used it to help students summarise content. -- Mrs Nicola Sowe * drupal *
Clear and well written book, very easy and clear to understand especially for those wishing to teach in the Life long learning sector. -- Mrs Rehana Patel * drupal *
Good structure

Although not working on a course that validates the award for education and training. It will prove useful for those students finding difficulty with evidencing their progress when looking at the teaching standards. Particularly useful chapters are 4 and 7 on ′inclusive teaching′.
