Written specifically for practice educators, this book examines contemporary theories and knowledge in practice learning, teaching and education, with a clear emphasis on developing the skills and practice of the individual. Another key focus of the book is to help readers to reflect on the implications of this for their role as practice educators, giving them the time and space to make proactive and informed choices. The book is structured around the new Post-Qualifying Standards for Practice Education, making it an invaluable and thoroughly comprehensive guide.
"This is an excellent book...It is straight-forward, authoritative and a valuable resource both in education and practice"- Lecturer, University of Birmingham
Easy to use good guide book to support practice teaching. -- Geana Wallace * drupal *
Great handbook when have
ing a student on placement to refer to and guide you -- Miss Anita Ganday * drupal *
The book provides excellent source of the knowledge and good practice when working with students as a Practice Educator. Book itself helped me to develop as a PE and also gave me great understanding of my role and support for further development. It is not recommended for students as the book is addressed to PE, who are supporting students to gaine their practice in the social work field. -- Mr DANIEL OPILA * drupal *
Well laid out and accessible text which is excellent for Practice Educators although now out of date with the PCF and SoP′s not mentioned however still very useful reference. -- Mr David Hambling * drupal *
An accessible introduction, especially helpful for those new to the role. -- Mr Ian Mathews * drupal *
Very useful for me as a Practice Educator when I am stuck with moving a student on in his/her thinking -- Mrs Pat Curtis * drupal *
Really useful book , well written and accessible. -- Mrs Siobhan Bas * drupal *
I like everything! A brilliant book for onsite supervisors and practice educators. I recommend it as a key text on Introductoin to Practice Education which they attend (key training before PLO begins). I will also recommend it to those doing stage 1 and stage 2 Practice Teachign Award. -- Ms Fleur Duke * drupal *
Not practical enough. Misses key info such as retention of info in adult learning theory. Also not updated with PCF -- Ms Fleur Duke * drupal *
I will recommend this book on an individual basis to Practice Assessors who have students on placement as an essiential read - I just don′t have a relevant module for listing.
Easy to read conversational style.
Structure of the book allows the reader to easily select an area of particular relevence -- Ms Judith Matthews * drupal *
