Vulnerable Adults and Community Care cover

This book supports busy practitioners studying on the Post-Qualifying Awards for Social Work with Adults. Fully updated to cover the latest legislation, the material in this book is presented as a series of self-contained chapters, written by different authors, which takes the reader beyond pure facts and offers many differing and thought-provoking viewpoints. The text is packed with helpful tips and really encourages readers to engage with their client groups and to reflect upon practice in a more meaningful way.

"Very informative. Well written, and up-to-date. A good resource for any social work modules on adults." (Senior Lecturer, Anglia Ruskin University)
Good range of topics, useful updating. Helpful introduction to topics for students. -- Bridget Penhale * drupal *
I tend to teach only the mental health PQ award, so this book does not really cover my areas of teaching.
However, this will be a valuable addition to developing my own understanding of issues in this area and could be recommended as supplementary reading for very able students on the final year of the degree programme. -- Jeanie Molyneux * drupal *
A good reading resource to identify the issues surrounding vulnerable adults in the care setting. The text provides the student wiht the opportunity to discuss issues raised within the book which will enhance their overall learning of the subject. -- Miss Jennifer Cowie * drupal *
An interesting and informative book. Easy to read and useful for anyone working with adults in the health and social care sector. -- Miss Nicola McDonagh * drupal *
An excellent text for all working with this group of clients, both social workers and no-social workers alike. -- Mr Barry Turner * drupal *
An essential text to guide practitioners through recent government policy with regard to self directed support and the implications for vulnerable adults. -- Mr Peter Williams * drupal *
The Book has been used for students undertaking AMHP training. -- Mr Robert Wu * drupal *
This is an excellent book in that it widens the term ′vulnerable′ to include all aspects of vulnerability and not just safeguarding issues. It also brings community care up to date with personalisation. Chapter 1 was interesting but perhaps a bit intense for year 2 BA′s. A discussion on vulnerability and the historical development of this in different contexts, may have been useful here and not later on. -- Mrs Patricia Woolley * drupal *
An easy to read informative book. The chapter on the Mental Capacity Act gave useful insight into the legislation. -- Mrs Saajida Patel * drupal *
This book is useful in pulling together the areas and information that needs to be explored when considering adult protection work. -- Mrs Surj Sall-Dullat * drupal *
Although this is recommended as PQ reading, I think it will also be invaluable for undergraduates, particularly in relation to placement opportunities. But you haven′t given the option of selection an undergraduate course! -- Ms Elizabeth Lefroy * drupal *
Used as additional reading for students to enable them to understand the subject. -- Ms Susan Dray * drupal *
A useful guide which helps practitioners working with vulnerable groups to implement and understand the changes introduced by new guidelines and policies. -- Owena Simpson * drupal *
